Escape to...Christmas Old and New

Acappellago invites you to get in the holiday spirit as we present some of our favorite pieces from seasons past, along with new treats!

Acappellago invites you to get in the holiday spirit as we present some of our favorite pieces from seasons past, along with new treats! Whether it is unique settings of familiar lyrics or new songs that you’ll want to hear again and again, our eclectic range of Christmas music will start your season right. You’ll hear a program that spans multiple genres, from the classic English carol "Wassail" to the rousing spiritual "Oh Jerusalem in the Morning." You’ll be charmed “Walking in the Air” from the animated seasonal classic “The Snowman.” We love to showcase music by local composers, and this program includes a piece by Mark James Meier of Chicago and a world premiere by John Milne of Villa Park. The program will also include music written especially for past Acappellago Christmas concerts by ensemble favorites Robert Applebaum (formerly of Niles, Ill.), Robert Convery of New York City, and Australian composer Matthew Orlovich. Acappellago, now in its 17th season, is the western suburbs’ leading volunteer a cappella chorus, and is known for its eclectic programming that spans classical music, jazz, pop, and gospel under the direction of Maestro Dennis R. Smith, who founded the group in 2002.
