Keep pipes from freezing

01/29/2015 06:38PM ● Published by Tim

Extreme low temperatures in the
winter can freeze and harm your
pipes. The following steps can be
taken to help prevent any frozen
pipes in your home:
A trickle of hot and cold water
might be all it takes to keep your
pipes from freezing. Let warm
water drip overnight, preferably
from a faucet on an outside wall.
Open cabinet doors to allow the
heat to get to pipes under sinks and
appliances near exterior walls. Keep
your thermostat set at the same
temperature during both day and
night. You might be in the habit
of turning down the heat before
going to sleep, but further drops in
the temperature overnight could
catch you off guard and freeze the
pipes in your home, so maintain a
constant temperature.
